The Venice Venice Cannaregio, on the Grand Canal
A 13th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, reborn by Alessandro and Francesca Gallo — the husband-and-wife founders of Golden Goose. They call it Postvenezianità. Most people would call it the sexiest hotel in Italy.
Five years of restoration. Byzantine doors, the original staircase taken apart and put back exactly so. Ninety percent of what you touch — the lamps, the uniforms, the beds — they designed themselves. A mirror framed in 500-year-old clay pulled from the foundations. A Carl Hansen chair coated in liquid brass.
We went last summer. It is fucking amazing. We felt like two people with extremely good taste allowed us to sleep over.
